Want to use your Siri to log a meal? We are looking at introducing Siri shortcuts to MyFast Track however, until we get around to it you can set up Siri to log the same data that we log directly to the Health App. Just setup a Siri short cut as shown below:

Open your iPhone and find the Siri shortcuts icon.

ree

If this is the first time you run Shortcuts you may have to click through the splash screen.

ree

Tap on Create Short cut to start the ball rolling.

ree

Tap the Add Action button.

ree

Tap on the apps action category.

ree

Select Health as the App we want to work with.

ree

From the list of available actions within the Health App tap Log Health Sample as the action we want to configure.

ree

Next we have to select the sort of Health Sample we want to log. As MyFast Track works on small records of dietary energy that is what we want to log. Tap Type to make this selection.

ree

Select Dietary Energy from the list that opens up. Type a few letters into the search field to restrict the number of entries you have to select from.

ree

If this is the first time that you have set Shortcuts up to work with Dietary Energy in the Health App then you will get a request for access from the Health App. Tap Turn All Categories On to proceed.

ree

Tap Allow to record your preferences.

ree

Next we want to set the energy units to Kilojoules (kJ). Tap the units in blue (in this case kcal) to modify.

ree

Select kJ from the list.

ree

Enter the number "1" for the value of the sample.

ree

Tap on the date that is listed as optional. We need to set this to the date and time that we ask Siri to run the shortcut. It is not immediately obvious but along the bottom of the screen is a horizontally scrolling list of date options. Scroll through until Current Date is visible. Tap it to select it.

ree

Tap Done to accept the default Date and Time Formats.

ree

With the Health Sample configured, click Next to proceed.

ree

Give your Shortcut a name such as "Just Ate". Note that this will be used in conjunction with the "Hey Siri" attention phrase to run your shortcut. Tap Done to complete the process.

ree

You should be able to see your completed shortcut. If your feeling creative you can change the image and colour of your shortcut without altering its functionality.

ree

Tapping the Just Ate Shortcut will cause it to run and log the sample we configured. This entry that will be noted by MyFast Track. Saying "Hey Siri, Just Ate" will cause the same thing to happen. Go ahead and test it so that you can see what happens. Remember however that MyFast Track can only delete its own entries from the Health App database. If you want to delete any entries made by Shortcuts (such as these test entries) you will have to open the Health App and delete the entries from there.
